 About CAERUS
Please note that the CAERUS system is no longer being developed or supported. This website remains here for archival purposes only.

CAERUS is a complete context aware software system for visitors to outdoor tourist sites and educational centres. Consisting of a handheld delivery system and a desktop administration system, it provides tools to add new maps, indicate regions of interest, add multimedia tours, and deliver to Pocket PC devices with GPS capability.  Focus on EDUCATION

Make the most of your educational visit by using CAERUS to administer and record innovative, engaging activities at multiple educational levels.

  • The handheld application supports content files in any supported Pocket PC file, enabling location-based activities like observation and data collection.
  • The easy to use synchronisation procedure means that each student's experience can be uniquely recorded and evaluated.
 Focus on TOURISM

Use CAERUS to give each visitor the experience of having a personal guide to reveal the hidden stories behind the obvious sights.

  • Make the best of your resources and support a range of visitor needs and interests through theme-based tours.
  • Provide text, images and video on time-sensitive restoration activities or seasonal changes.
 Focus on RESEARCH

CAERUS uses GPS-enabled mobile technology to provide personalised learning opportunities in an authentic context.

  • Information is location-based and available to the learner where and when it is appropriate
  • The handheld application's push-button interface allows learners to concentrate on their environment and not on the mobile device.
  • The easy to use desktop application allows administrators to easily design and administer multiple educational scenarios.
